Pediatric Rheumatology was recognized officially as an specialty in 1994 by the Royal College of Physicians, in 1996 by the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health and in America by the Pediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organization (PRINTO), who have highlighted the significance of assessing childhood rheumatological diseases by personnel trained in the examination of patients younger than 18 years of age.
The service is supported by a complete interdisciplinary team integrating all pediatric specialties and the clinic’s infrastructure and technology, in order to provide a high quality service to our patients.
During consultation, the pediatric rheumatologist collects a complete clinical history and performs a physical and joint examination. If deemed necessary, laboratory studies, ddetermination of autoantibodies and diagnostic imaging. are requested. All these results are combined to determine the origin of the symptoms and establish a treatment plan, constituted by medications or procedures (infiltrations).
The Institution has a pediatric rheumatologist, who is part of Fundación Valle del Lili’s team of rheumatologists. As a specialist in pediatrics and rheumatology, she provides the best outpatient and inpatient care to children under 18 years of age with rheumatological diseases, supported by our Institution’s infrastructure. We are in Tower 7, 5th floor, at Fundación Valle del Lili.
Additionally, support diagnostic services are available through the hematology laboratory, blood chemistry, immunology and genetics, as well as diagnostic imaging, from conventional radiology to nuclear medicine; in addition, the multidisciplinary support of a variety of medical specialties allows providing an optimal and good quality care to our service users.
