Cali is the capital of the department of Valle del Cauca and it is the third most populated city in Colombia. It was founded on July 25, 1536 by Sebastián de Belalcázar, which makes it one of the oldest cities in America.
It is known as the world’s capital of salsa, and it is one of the most important Sports Centers in Colombia. In 2019, it was awarded the prize of the World Travel Awards as a one of the best cultural travel destinations in South America, with a varied offer of cultural, sportive and touristic activities.
Santiago de Cali is also a business capital, with an infrastructure that grants the best places for holding business meetings and have accommodation, as well as shopping, gastronomic and leisure activities. Permanent cultural and artistic activities are at their highest expression at the Art Festival and are further complemented each December, at the Feria de Cali [Cali’s Fair].

Touristic information
The Secretariat of Tourism of Santiago de Cali’s Mayor Office has planned a service of touristic tours to see the many touristic attractions of the city, along specific routes where both national and international travelers, as well as city residents, can discover, learn about and enjoy Cali’s history and rich heritage, culture, art, gastronomy, music and nature.

Climate
Cali has a tropical savanna climate. The dry season goes from December to February and from July to August. The rainy season goes from March to May and from September to November.
The highest registered temperature in Cali was 39°C on August 16, 1979, and the lowest was 14°C on June 18 of the same year.
