FVL present at the World Congress of Gynecology and Endocrinology in Florence!
The most important event in this specialty was in Florence, Italy, where medical experts shared knowledge about the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gynecological-endocrine diseases.
Our institution was represented by Dr. Fernando Ávila, a gynecologist-obstetrician and endocrinologist, who was one of only two Colombians present at this international event. During the congress, topics such as menopause, polycystic ovary syndrome, infertility, and hormonal imbalances related to gynecological cancer were addressed, with the goal of offering advanced treatments to improve women's quality of life.
Dr. Fernando Ávila presented the results of research on menopause, where the most common symptoms affecting these patients were identified, with special emphasis on hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
She also presented the case of two sisters with pure XY syndrome, a rare genetic condition, providing an opportunity to better understand the mechanisms of human sexual development.
