The Nephrology Service is addressed to adult and pediatric, and outpatient or hospitalized patients with any renal condition requiring medical management, dialysis therapy or transplantation.
The Nephrology Service offers specialized outpatient consultation for adult and pediatric patients in relation to renal diseases. Likewise, pre-transplant and post-transplant consultation is offered for patients who need it.
In addition, a nephrology specialist is available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, for all patients who are admitted through the emergency service and require Nephrology management.
Among the procedures provided by the Service, renal transplantation stands out, which has been performed in the Institution since 1995, with more than 1,800 kidney transplants performed to date.
Likewise, kidney biopsies of native and transplanted kidneys and dialysis treatment are performed for hospitalized patients, both in intensive care and in regular hospitalization.
The Service has a medical staff of four nephrologists for the adult population and two nephrologists for the pediatric population. For dialysis, we have the support of four nurses specialized in nephrology and six nursing assistants, this ensures the permanent provision of a high-quality service.
The Nephrology Service excels in the multidisciplinary management of renal patients, from pre-dialysis and dialysis phases until a transplantation is required. Our Institution is a leader in the field, with more than 1,800 transplants performed to date, including renal, and also liver, pancreatic and intestinal transplants.
