The Neonatal Unit is located on the 2nd floor of Hospitalization Tower 1, next to the Delivery Room, making up the Maternal and Child Unit. Surgery Rooms are located in the same floor, thus improving surgical timing.
Cutting-edge technology is available, whose highlights are that each unit is equipped with a system for continuous cardiopulmonary monitoring, medical gas supply and vacuum systems, as well as high frequency ventilation, conventional ventilators, equipment for administration of nitric oxide, equipment for hypothermia, gasometer, last-generation incubators, radiant heat panels, radiant heat systems, transport incubator and breast milk extractors among others.
Qualified human resources are available to attend newborns according to the complexity of their condition: neonatologists, pediatricians, and primary care physicians, and administrative officers, as well as professional and auxiliary nursing staff trained in neonatal care, physiotherapists and respiratory therapists.
Outpatient consultation may be requested 24 hours a day with all medical and assistance specialties.
In order to enhance the management of premature newborns, we have the Contacto Canguro (Kangaroo Contact) program, during hospital and outpatient phases.
Being a university hospital institution, our staff is constantly undergoing training, including undergraduate, graduate and subspecialty medicine students.
Our unit has an “open doors” policy, which reinforces the institutional policy of humanization through promoting continuous contact of newborns with their families.
