Arthroscopies

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses a camera to visualize and examine the joint, allowing for non-invasive procedures developed years ago.

In the knee, it is possible to reconstruct cruciate ligaments, suture menisci, and examine articular cartilage.

In shoulder surgery, rotator cuff reconstruction and suturing, as well as instability management, are now considered routine.

Procedures such as cartilage transplants, sutures and biologic treatments are performed with high standards of quality and scientific evidence.

The service recognizes the importance of comprehensive patient management to provide the best therapeutic option and improve quality of life.

Hip Surgery

Hip surgery has evolved significantly over the past fifteen years thanks to the work of the Berne group led by Professor Ganz, who described a new hip pathology known as femoroacetabular impingement, changing the traditional approach to managing this hip condition.

In cases of hip osteoarthritis, some patients may be candidates for the AMIS prosthesis, which allows the surgeon to perform a hip replacement with a small incision.

Stem cells for osteoarthritis

This involves the use of bone marrow concentrate aspirate containing a percentage of stem cells for use in joints that may be experiencing osteoarthritis or wear and tear. It is currently used in large joints such as the shoulder, hip or knee. These cells and their growth factors primarily have an anti-inflammatory effect in the joint, although they also have regenerative potential.

Hand Surgery

The Hand Surgery Service at Fundación Valle del Lili has four specialists dedicated to the treatment of traumatic, congenital and degenerative musculoskeletal disorders of the hand and upper extremity. Available 24 hours a day, we have the expertise to treat highly complex traumatic injuries such as:

  • Re-implantation of amputated upper extremity segments
  • Multiple upper extremity trauma and complex cases
  • In addition, we have the surgical capacity to perform upper extremity reconstruction procedures, brachial plexus reconstruction, and care for pediatric patients with congenital deformities of the hands and fingers.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a conservative (non-invasive) treatment used for certain conditions that do not respond to other treatments such as physical therapy or injections. This therapy is indicated for conditions such as

  • Medial and lateral epicondylitis (golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow)
  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Calcified rotator cuff tendinopathy
  • This treatment is also indicated for inflammatory conditions such as
  • Plantar fasciitis (heel spur)
  • Trochanteric bursitis

Finally, it can help treat fractures that have not healed (non-union/pseudoarthrosis).

Pediatric Orthopaedics

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Service has three specialists who treat injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system in children from birth through adolescence.

We treat children with congenital deformities, postural abnormalities, bone deformities, infections, growth discrepancies and metabolic bone diseases that interfere with normal bone development. It is important to note that during this period of life (childhood and adolescence), muscles and bones are developing, which is why at Fundación Valle del Lili we provide specialized treatment to offer our users the best possible service.

Joint Replacement

Fundación Valle del Lili has a multidisciplinary team dedicated to patients who need hip, knee and shoulder replacements. These surgeries are performed on patients with advanced osteoarthritis to significantly improve their quality of life by reducing the intensity of pain and improving mobility.

At the Fundación Valle del Lili, the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Service is divided into three areas to meet all your needs:

  • Emergency Care: 24/7 coverage in the clinic to provide comprehensive care to patients, typically those with trauma.
  • Outpatient consultation: We offer care Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., by appointment.
  • Surgery: We perform elective or scheduled surgical procedures Monday through Saturday and see emergencies daily.
