What is "Una espera de amor"?

Our psycho-prophylactic course’s name is “Una espera de amor” (“A Loving wait”) and it is addressed to new parents and those who are again in the adventure of a new pregnancy. It is a workshop created by specialists who will assist the family at this stage of their lives, providing tools to face with joy and serenity each change, pregnancy and postpartum. An innovative initiative, in light of the best scientific evidence and clinical experience to make it a pleasant and fulfilling experience, for giving birth to a happy baby.

 

Why choosing the course?

A Psycho-prophylactic course is a set of physical, psychological and behavioral strategies to make pregnancy and birth the best love experience, and to reduce the probability of unpleasant events, through general education about pregnancy and its stages.

Tools are provided to achieve a gradual physical preparation by exercising the muscle groups that interact during childbirth and learning relaxation and breathing exercises in order to improve the experience.

The purpose of the course is to guide and help a woman and her family in her preparation to:

  • Manage psychological, emotional and physiological changes are experienced during and after pregnancy.
  • Develop self-care skills.
  • Improve parenting skills.
  • Improve the likelihood of positive delivery and postpartum outcomes.
  • Preparation for childbirth, motherhood and fatherhood requires active and constant involvement from both the pregnant mother and father, as well as sharing experiences with other couples, to strengthen their bonds and knowledge for living this stage as one of the best experiences of their lives.

What’s in the workshop?

  • Personalized sessions (maximum 10 couples per session).
  • Theoretical-practical weekly, two-hour long sessions intended for the development of necessary skills for pregnancy, labor and birth. They should start preferably after the 5th month of pregnancy. 
  • The course is addressed to the pregnant woman and any companion of her choice, to provide them with preparation and assistance during pregnancy. 

We have a work team integrating several specialists and experts in disciplines related to this subject: an obstetrician-gynecologist, a professional nurse lactation specialist, a physiotherapist, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a nutritionist and a nursing assistant. It has been integrated with physical and artistic activities and yoga sessions, as well as relaxation techniques, among others, as essential tools to guide and accompany parents in a dynamic and innovative way through the stages of pregnancy, delivery/cesarean section and baby’s primary care.

  • It is the only course in the city that has a qualified human and interdisciplinary team and a flexible schedule.
  • Humanized delivery, tour through our facilities and individual patient rooms intended for labor assistance. 
  • Our course is comprised of eight sessions where essential topics are covered by cycles. 
  • Pleasant location fully equipped with audiovisual, didactic and artistic aids (body language, bio-dance, yoga, relaxation) to ensure the best development for topics to be addressed.
  • An added value of this program is the possibility of establishing a direct and personalized relation (along the course) with trained professionals and a link to other programs, in order to provide specific advice on topics such as breastfeeding and pelvic floor strengthening exercises, among others. 

-Practical breathing, relaxation and stretching techniques, as well as an exercise guide for pregnancy, and yoga.

-Pelvic floor strengthening exercises.

-Fetal stimulation.

-Practice of techniques and breathing during labor.

-Workout with exercise balls and bands.

-Practical simulation with realistic newborn prototypes for breastfeeding and newborn care.
