With the presentation "The Private Sector's Experience in Adopting the La Hacienda Urban Forest," our institution participated in this meeting held in Cali, Colombia, which brought together presenters from Bogotá, Santa Marta, Medellín, Buenaventura, and Barranquilla. Our University Hospital was invited to this event by DAGMA because it is the only private company in the country that has adopted an urban forest.
“Within our institutional pillar of social responsibility, we seek to generate social and environmental value for the community. That's why we implement strategies such as reducing, controlling, and offsetting our carbon footprint. The latter includes planting trees and adopting green spaces and urban forests, aiming to contribute to cleaner air,” said Monica Castaño, environmental management coordinator.
Our urban forest is located next to the headquarters Limonar and covers 27.410 M2; It provides habitat for flora and fauna and reduces the heat island effect, helping to combat climate change, enriching the environmental quality of our city and confirming that our hospital not only cares for human health, but also the health of the planet.
