Phase 2/3, adaptive, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of VX-147 in adult and pediatric subjects with proteinuric kidney disease – 05312879

Study ID: 05312879

Adaptive, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2/3 study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of VX-147 in adult and pediatric subjects with APOL1-mediated proteinuric kidney disease.

About the study:

This study is being conducted to learn more about the safety and efficacy of the investigational drug VX-147 (inaxapline) in participants with APOL1-mediated chronic kidney disease (CKD). People of recent African descent are more likely to have certain variations in the APOL1 gene and are at increased risk of developing CKD. Currently, treatment for CKD only manages some aspects of the disease, such as high blood pressure. However, it is also important to treat the worsening of kidney function, as well as the underlying cause of CKD. VX-147 (inaxapline) is being studied to determine if it can slow or stop the decline in kidney function, as well as target the underlying cause of this disease. VX-147 (inaxapline) is an investigational drug, meaning it is not approved by the Colombian National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (INVIMA) or by the health authorities of other countries and is still being evaluated for safety and effectiveness.
