Abstract:
Diabetes is a chronic disease that cannot be cured, but it can be controlled by adopting healthy lifestyle habits: proper nutrition, exercise, and sometimes medication.
Healthy nutrition
Consuming certain foods can cause an increase in blood glucose (sugar) levels in diabetic patients.
For this reason, identifying the amount consumed at each meal helps control these levels, keeping them within the desired limits. Follow these recommendations:
- Establish your daily meals: breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner; as indicated by Nutrition.
- Eat slowly and chew each bite well.
- Consume 3 to 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
- Choose whole grain cereals and wholemeal flours: quinoa, barley, oats, corn).
- Physical activity and exercise
- Check the nutrition labels on products, focusing on the grams of carbohydrates and considering the units in which they are represented. Remember
Try to eat foods that do not contain sugar. - Increase your water consumption.
