What does this specialty do?
Non-invasive cardiology is a subspecialty of clinical cardiology focused on the diagnosis, prognosis, and follow-up of adult patients with cardiovascular disease. It uses advanced imaging technology and functional tests to evaluate the structure and function of the heart without invasive procedures. Its goal is to accurately and safely detect cardiac abnormalities that allow for timely medical treatment.

Procedures or treatments

- transesophageal echocardiogram
- Stress echocardiogram
- Conventional stress test
- Holter Monitoring
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
- Extended heart rate monitoring for up to one month
- Tilt table test

Diagnostic tests are performed by internists with subspecialty in cardiology and echocardiography.
The service also has electrophysiologists in charge of performing tilt table tests and heart rate monitoring.
Exam preparation
- Transthoracic echocardiogram: No special preparation is required.
- Transesophageal echocardiogram: 8-hour fast and pre-anesthetic evaluation if performed with sedation.
- Holter: Avoid using creams or powders on the chest.
- MAP: No preparation required.
- Stress echocardiogram: Avoid caffeinated or dark drinks 24 hours before; wear comfortable clothing, sneakers, and bring a companion; do not use creams or powders on your chest.
- Stress test: Attend wearing comfortable clothing, sneakers, and bring a companion; avoid creams and powders on the chest.
- Tilt table test: Fasting and assistance with a companion.
