Impact of blood and platelet donation by apheresis on medical treatments
Blood and platelet donation through apheresis is crucial for a variety of medical treatments, surgeries, and therapies. By donating, you are helping patients with cancer, blood disorders, severe anemia, premature newborns, and people who require transfusions for complex procedures. Your generosity can save lives and improve the quality of life for those who need it most.
What happens to donated blood?
The Blood Bank processes whole blood and platelet donations by apheresis, separating the blood components (red blood cells, plasma, and platelets). All components undergo rigorous testing to ensure their quality, including screening for viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis, minimizing risks.
Only those components that meet the standards receive a quality seal, ensuring their proper use in patients.
