What does this specialty do?
The Adult Palliative Care service provides comprehensive care to individuals with chronic, progressive, or advanced illnesses that significantly impact their quality of life. Its aim is to alleviate suffering, improve well-being, and support the patient and their family throughout the course of the illness, using a humane, compassionate, and person-centered approach.
Care is provided by a transdisciplinary team that addresses the patient's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs in a holistic manner, promoting symptom control and continuous support.

The service attends to adult patients with advanced oncological and non-oncological diseases, who present with complex symptoms, including:
- Cancer in advanced stages.
- Progressive chronic diseases.
- Chronic pain that is difficult to manage.
- Difficulty breathing.

- Depression and anxiety associated with the disease.
- Nausea and loss of appetite.
- Sleep disorders related to advanced disease.
