Target populationIt is addressed to children, adolescents under 18 years old and their families.
The Child Psychiatry service was founded in 2002. It is part of the Maternal Child Unit and its mission is offering mental healthcare to children and adolescents. It provides outpatient and emergency services and psychiatric hospitalization in the Betania branch. It also provides referrals to specialized care in Pediatrics and other clinical and surgical specialties that provide medical assistance for this population.
Psychotherapy and medical care are provided by Psychiatric Care. Specialized clinical services in emotional developmental and eating behavior disorders, are provided, as well as support by a group of adolescents and a gender clinical service. It also has the support of the Child psychology, Child neuropsychology y Family therapy areas. Outpatient, emergency and hospital care are provided for education, support and follow-up of patients with emotional, developmental and behavioral disorders.
Three psychiatrists specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry are part of the Service. It has the support of other psychiatrists specialized in eating disorders, neuropsychiatry and liaison psychiatry. We work in association with the Psychology, Pediatric Neurology areas and other specialties in charge of medical attention of children within the Foundation.
The Child Psychiatry service is focused on providing comprehensive and high-quality care for children and adolescents with mental disorders and their families. Since it is part of a high-complexity clinical service, severe cases of pediatric patients with medical-surgical diseases are treated, helping them to achieve a better and faster recovery.
The academic activity by medicine undergraduate programs and postgraduate courses in psychiatry and pediatrics ensure constant updating of knowledge and a good quality service.
