    Who are the target population?

    The prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in adults starts from adolescence (e.g. risk factors: sedentary lifestyle, obesity, smoking), through young adulthood (e.g. dyslipidemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus) up to the old age (e.g. coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmia)

    The cardiology service has the following services or sub-specialties:

    • General cardiology: specialized consultation.
    • Non-invasive cardiology: echocardiograms, peripheral vascular ultrasound, stress tests, BP monitor (ABPM).
    • Electrophysiology: tilt table, ECG monitor (Holter ECG), pacemaker implant, cardioverter-defibrillator, electrophysiological study, cardiac mapping and cardiac ablation.
    • Hemodynamics and vascular intervention: coronary arteriography, pulmonary arteriography, peripheral arteriography, coronary and peripheral stenting, valvuloplasty, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI).
    • Heart failure, heart transplantation and pulmonary hypertension: endomyocardial biopsy, right heart catheterization, pulmonary reactivity.
    • Cardiovascular surgery: myocardial revascularization, heart valve repair, valve replacement, cardiac tumor resection, pericardial window, ventricular assist devices, cardiac transplant.
